Mastercard Foundation Associates Program 2026: 12-Month Paid Internships for Young African Graduates

0 viewsAdded on March 26, 2026

About

The Mastercard Foundation Associates Program is a flagship career development initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and meaningful employment for young African graduates. Operating since 2023, the program has already supported over 1,000 young professionals across 22 African countries through strategic partnerships with leading employers, development organizations, and recruitment platforms. The program focuses on three key areas: disability inclusion, education and career transitions, and support for refugees and displaced persons. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis as internship opportunities become available across different regions.

Who Can Apply

The program is open to young people aged 18-35 who are recent graduates with 0-2 years of work experience and currently residing in Africa. While preference is given to Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program alumni or alumni of other Mastercard Foundation programs, this is not always mandatory depending on the specific role. The program actively seeks to include young women, persons with disabilities, refugees, internally displaced persons, and youth from underserved and marginalized communities to ensure equitable access across Africa.

What You Get

Participants receive a comprehensive 12-month internship placement with partner organizations across Africa or in remote positions, along with a monthly stipend for financial support. The program provides hands-on work experience through real projects, leadership development training, employability and entrepreneurship skills building, mentorship from experienced professionals, and access to valuable professional networks. After completing the internship, participants receive structured career transition support to move into full-time employment, entrepreneurship opportunities, or advanced career pathways.

Deadlines

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis as internship opportunities become available in each region.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted through region-specific platforms based on your country of residence. South African residents apply through Youth Employment Service (YES), Anglophone West Africa through Jobberman, Francophone Africa through Talent2Africa, East Africa through Shortlist Futures, and remote opportunities through Talentum. Southern Africa applications are expected to open soon. Candidates should monitor these platforms regularly as roles are posted continuously.
