About
The Intercultural Achievement Award is offered by Austria's Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs to honor outstanding projects that strengthen intercultural and interreligious dialogue in Austria and beyond. The award recognizes innovative approaches to bridging cultural and religious divides through various mediums and methodologies.
The award covers six distinct categories: Sustainability (addressing environmental and intercultural challenges), Recent Events (responding to current developments), Technology (using innovative technical solutions), Innovation (distinguished by creative methodological approaches), Media (published contributions with public impact), and Religious Freedom (promoting peaceful coexistence of religions in public spaces).
Who Can Apply
For categories 1-5, applications are open to projects led by non-profit organizations including charitable NGOs, associations, foundations, social education institutions, and religious organizations, as well as private-sector organizations. Government, scientific research, and international institutions are excluded.
Your project must focus primarily on intercultural and interreligious dialogue and address at least one of these themes: art/culture, youth, human rights, global citizenship education, integration, or gender equality. For the Sustainability category, your institution must have been active for at least 2 years.
What You Get
Each category offers EUR 6,000 in funding. Winners receive recognition from Austria's Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, which can provide significant credibility and visibility for your organization and project.
The award also offers networking opportunities within Austria's international cultural policy community and potential for future collaboration or funding opportunities.

How to Apply
Submit your application by email to [email protected]. A detailed application form with specific questions is available for download from the Ministry's website. Applications must be structured and clearly written in English or German, with convincing project content that answers all required questions.
For Recent Events category, your project must have been implemented between 2023 and 2025. For Media category, contributions must have been published after January 1, 2022. Most other categories require projects to be operational for at least one year with measurable impact.
