IFAD Internship Programme 2026
About
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Internship Programme offers six-month internship opportunities for recent university graduates and current students. IFAD is a specialized United Nations agency focused on eradicating rural poverty and hunger through agricultural development. The programme recognizes that young people bring invaluable knowledge, ideas, and energy to the workplace. Interns can pursue an additional six-month internship to access different learning experiences and broaden their exposure to IFAD's diverse areas of work.
Who Can Apply
You must be 30 years of age or younger. You need to either be enrolled in an accredited university or graduate school with at least two years of undergraduate studies completed and have attended courses within the last 24 months, or have completed university studies at undergraduate or postgraduate level within the last 24 months. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of other IFAD official languages (Arabic, French, or Spanish) or any other language may be necessary depending on your region of assignment.
What You Get
The programme provides a monthly allowance to all interns. To promote geographic diversity, IFAD offers a higher monthly allowance to interns from developing countries who need to travel to their duty station, which contributes to housing and travel expenses. You'll gain hands-on experience in agricultural development work and exposure to IFAD's mission of eradicating rural poverty and hunger.
